2006, April 2005, September 2004 . . . If you are an elected
official, or have any association with emergency response, then these dates
have true meaning to you. They represent a painful reminder of long
days and nights, great loss of property, concern over water quality issues,
and significant public outcry; all a consequence of the swelling waters from
our local streams and rivers. Flooding events
from improperly managed stormwater runoff cause us to reflect on past
decisions, providing us the unfortunate opportunity to see that stormwater
management and flood plain management are critical to the prevention of
problems and casualties caused by flooding events.
Pocono Northeast, along with our partners, have
presented Stormwater/Flood Summits covering the Counties of
Carbon, Columbia, Monroe, Montour, Northumberland, Pike and Wayne.
